Hello everyone!
If you have come here from Actual Teaching – Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with us. You may be wondering why new content has been a bit hit and miss this year. Apart from the fact that I’ve just returned to full time teaching after a year of maternity leave, I have been working very hard on some big changes.
I am very excited to announce our brand new site is now up and running!
Actual Teaching has morphed and re-branded into Staffroom Stories.
All of the content from Actual Teaching has been migrated across, so if you’re looking for an older post you’ll be able to find it here.
All new content will be posted on Staffroom Stories – the same great content you’ve come to know and love, written by me or my colleagues, but through my new platform.
Why the change? I can hear you asking.
The reason is simple – ‘Actual Teaching’ no longer fits with what this site is doing and the direction it is taking. I originally morphed to this form from a science teaching blog when I realised I was no longer talking exclusively about science teaching. Now I’ve come to realise the type of content I share is more like the conversations you have in the staffroom. The conversations about your day, your students, your stresses and successes.
I wanted to create a better representation of this concept – cue Staffroom Stories!
I have also created a Facebook page for the website, which you can find here. I will post updates of new content, and any other teacher-related stuff that seems right!
Even better, I have created a Facebook group, which can be found here – I want this to be slightly different to other teaching groups. This one isn’t about sharing resources necessarily, or selling resources, or specifically about any topic or stage of teaching. I want this to simply be an online staffroom, a place where you are welcome to share your stories from the trenches. Support other teachers, celebrate together, rant and rave and get it all off your chest. If you feel like this might be a good group for you, or you’re just curious, swing by for a coffee and a chat!
ALSO there is a new Instagram account – @staffroomstories – follow that for any and all teacher-y stuff. If you are an Instagram teacher yourself, tag your pics with #staffroomstories for the chance to be featured!
As always, if there is a topic you’d like for me to write about, or if you have something you’d like to contribute yourself, please get in touch!
Welcome, and enjoy!
