The One Thing I Would Change About 2017

January 10, 2018 in 2017 - Australia - No Comments

This is the fifth part of my Reflection Series for 2017 – a self-reflection of my teaching this year.

What is something you would change about this year if you could?

This is going to be an extremely short post.

If I could have changed something about my 2017 teaching year, it would be this simple thing – contact HR directly myself about my pregnancy and maternity leave, instead of letting it drag out for 2 terms and untold anxiety attacks.

I will write more about this in a future post, so keep your eyes peeled, but truly that is the one thing I wish I could change.

I feel like everything else that has happened this year has developed me professionally or personally. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, as they say. I found that to be true this year, in all aspects except for the maternity leave. That was just an unnecessary mess that I would take away in an instant if I could.
