Song Lyrics Every Teacher Can Relate To

Song Lyrics Every Teacher Can Relate To

Sometimes you hear a song on the radio and the lyrics just resonate with you. Most of these songs have absolutely nothing at all to do with teaching in any possible way, and yet parts of them just fit so well!

When you know a student is going through a really rough time or having a bad day and you just want to support them the best you can…

That student who is just plain rude when they speak to you, sometimes without realising it, sometimes knowing exactly what they’re doing…

Towards the end of the term, or the end of an assessment marking cycle (the film clip is pretty spot on with how it feels sometimes too!)…

These four simple words that perhaps go through a teacher’s mind about 40 times a day. When a student says they didn’t do their homework, when they say they don’t know what they’re doing, when someone says teaching is an easy job, when senior leadership gives you more work…

When you refer that student out of the lesson…

When it’s the weekend or you’re on holidays but can’t stop thinking about work…

At the end of the day sometimes you just gotta let it go…

DISCLAIMER – the following contain explicit language. While this may not be very PC, I think I can safely say many teachers have felt the need to bite their tongue in a range of situations that might result in such language if they didn’t have iron self-control.

When you’re burnt out and don’t know how to keep going…

That kid that thinks they can get on your nerves, but you’re well onto their game…

Often tying in with that when you’ve had the day from hell and someone keeps pushing those buttons…
